Minimally invasive surgery

Having surgery doesn’t have to be a hassle. Mercyhealth's minimally invasive surgery options help to get you back to your normal daily activities faster.

Arthroscopic surgery

Our orthopedic surgeons use this minimally invasive surgery to look for injuries and inflammation inside joints without creating large incisions.

How it works

Using an arthroscope, the surgeon makes a small incision and inserts pencil-sized instruments to view cartilage, ligaments, muscles, tendons and bones. He then determines the amount or type of injury and can repair or correct the problem, if necessary.

Benefits of arthroscopic surgery

When compared to traditional surgery, arthroscopic surgery offers the benefit of smaller incisions, less pain and faster healing.

da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery

You’ve just been diagnosed with a condition that requires surgery. Until recently, your options included traditional surgery with a large open incision, or laparoscopy, which uses small incisions but is typically limited to very simple procedures.

Thanks to technological advances, our surgeons offer an effective alternative to traditional open and laparoscopic surgery. State-of-the-art da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery helps our surgeons minimize the pain and risk associated with traditional surgery, while increasing your chances of a fast recovery with an excellent outcome.

How it works

The da Vinci Surgical System is powered by technology that translates the surgeon’s hand movements into precise movements of small instruments within the operating area. The da Vinci requires direct input from the surgeon for every surgical movement.

Benefits of da Vinci

Surgery with the da Vinci offers the potential of significantly less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and an overall faster return to your normal daily activities.
