Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Hristo Deianov Hristov, MD, board certified pulmonologist and sleep medicine doctor, to the physician staff at Mercyhealth Woodstock.
Dr. Hristov’s philosophy of care is centered on building relationships with his patients and communicating with them clearly. “I am always trying to provide a personalized and high quality, academic-level patient care in a community setting,” Dr. Hristov said. “I would like to know who my patients are as people, so that I can provide them with the relevant information needed to prevent disease and promote health, and also the information needed to take care of existing illnesses they might have.”
After earning his medical degree at Semmelweis University School of Medicine, Budapest, Dr. Hristov served his internal medicine residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center at Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY. He then completed a pulmonary disease and critical care medicine fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY, and a sleep medicine fellowship at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System-North Shore University Hospital/New York University School of Medicine, Manhasset, NY. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certifications in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Hristov’s special interests include:
- General pulmonary disease, including obstructive airway diseases like asthma and COPD
- Pulmonary manifestations of systemic diseases
- Pulmonary infections, including bacterial, fungal and mycobacterial
- Sleep medicine with emphasis on obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
