Mercyhealth offers a one-year ACGME sports medicine fellowship program designed to train fellows in the diagnosis and management of sports medicine injuries. You'll receive hands-on education and support from experts.
We are ACGME-accredited for one position each year and welcome applicants with a residency in family medicine.
Tailored education and experiences
We're committed to providing our fellow with innovative, exciting and enjoyable training experiences that are both challenging and rewarding. You'll enjoy a flexible, supportive and responsive learning environment within a unique approach to the educational paradigm.
We have great diversity in our curriculum and experiences and encourage fellows to tailor their rotations to their interests and career goals.
We have three sports medicine clinics in Janesville, Wisconsin, that the fellow will rotate through. In addition, the fellow receives exposure to a wide variety of sports medicine opportunities, including team physician responsibilities, game coverage, concussion management, and development and implementation of medical coverage for mass participation events, including the Ice Age Trail 50.
Our Sports Medicine Fellowship combines NCAA Division III sports coverage with experiences evaluating and treating patients with varied musculoskeletal complaints. The fellow participates in athletics coverage of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Beloit College, Janesville Jets and multiple different high school sporting events throughout the year, including football, basketball, wrestling and more.
Unlike bigger university programs that compete with other private orthopedic, sports medicine and pain management physicians for referrals and patient volume, our sports medicine clinics serve as the primary source of musculoskeletal medicine for all age groups in the region.
