Admissions process

After a review of all submitted applications by the Admissions Committee, qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule aptitude testing.

Aptitude testing is completed through Pegasus Lectures Ultrasound Student Assessment (USA) Program.

The USA is an examination of intrinsic skills that are essential for the sonography profession. Study tools and practice exams are not available. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an appointment. Testing is $70 (USD) and due at time of testing.

Upon review of aptitude results, top qualified candidates are offered an on-site interview (Mercyhealth-Javon Bea Hospital Rockton Campus) with faculty and staff from the Admissions Committee. The following criteria is considered in the evaluation of all applicants:

  • Overall GPA
  • Completed prerequisite coursework GPA
  • Aptitude testing scores
  • Interview
  • Professional potential (comprehensive rating of the applicant's overall preparedness)

Once all scheduled interviews are conducted, the scores are calculated and a final report is generated. From there, the top six (6) applicants are offered admission status.

*The Admissions Committee reserves the right request additional interviews before the final report is generated. Admission to the School of Sonography is conditional upon submitting to and satisfactorily passing a criminal background check, a pre-admission physical examination and a drug test.
