Our faculty includes board certified family medicine physicians who precept our residents. Precepting means they advise and guide the residents while reviewing and supervising patient care where the residents train--within the hospital and at Mercyhealth South. Our residents consult with their preceptor about each patient's plan of care.

Suhail Shaikh, MD, MBA, FAAFP

Program Director

Dr. Shaikh serves as program Director of the Mercyhealth Family Medicine Residency Program at Mercyhealth South.

He earned his medical degree at Sindh Medical College-University of Karachi, Pakistan, and served his family medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical School, San Antonio. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Dr. Shaikh also completed a Master of Business Administration degree at Texas Tech University, Lubbock.
