Janesville's only 24-hour emergency medical trauma facility
Did you know your chance of sustaining a permanent, accident-related disability is directly related to the distance of the nearest trauma center?
The Regional Emergency Trauma Center at Mercy Hospital is the only verified Level II trauma center in south-central Wisconsin. Level II verification means that Mercy is able to treat a variety of critical care situations that otherwise would require helicopter transport to other facilities. In our area, only the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison holds a higher critical care verification (Level I) and no other regional providers are Level II certified.
At the Regional Trauma Center at Mercy Hospital, trauma surgeons, emergency physicians and other highly trained critical care professionals are available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. As an American College of Surgeons-verified Level II trauma center, traumatic injuries that before would require helicopter transport to distant facilities are a thing of the past.
Mercy’s trauma center focuses on saving lives during the “golden hour,” the critical 60-minute window after an injury, which has been proven to be the most important determinant of life or death. Trauma surgeons, emergency medicine physicians and other highly trained critical care professionals are available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.
Having a Level II trauma center close to home saves precious minutes and even more precious lives. This designation means so much to us because with it, we can support our neighbors in their most critical times of need.
