Javon Bea is President and CEO of Mercy Health System, a large, vertically integrated health system in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois headquartered in Janesville, WI. Javon has more than 35 years experience in the national health care arena, having served at prestigious and well-respected medical centers throughout the country. A sought after speaker and consultant, Javon is renowned for his innovations in the areas of integrated health care delivery and physician partnership models. He has written extensively for national health care publications, as well as co-authored The Capitation Sourcebook: A Practical Guide to Managing At-Risk Arrangements, and published a book entitled Journey to Excellence.
Javon’s experience implementing effective culture of excellence programs and innovative physician compensation models to foster system turnaround is unparalleled. Under Javon’s leadership, Mercy Health System pioneered a "partnership model" of compensation and designed a custom culture of excellence program that promotes both clinical and service quality initiatives as part of a decade-long commitment to system growth and turnaround.
Over the last 25 years, Mercy has grown from a single, stand-alone community hospital to a completely vertically integrated health system with 70 facilities in 26 communities throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In 1989, Mercy had no integrated physician partners. Today, nearly 400 multi-specialty physicians are completely integrated W2 employed partners. Mercy physicians participate in every aspect of the system's development, including our insurance products, which have more than 583 contracted practitioners in nine Stateline counties. From preventive care to specialty care to after care, Mercy Health System encompasses all aspects of the health care continuum. Over the past 25 years, gross revenue has grown from $33 million to over $1.3 billion.

In this video, President and CEO of Mercy Health System Javon Bea talks about his journey from childhood through his arrival to Janesville and transforming Mercy Hospital into Mercy Health System that today includes three hospitals with dozens of specialists, 68 medical centers, home health and hospice services, and an insurance company.
