Mercy Women's Health Center Improving health for all women
Women’s health needs are special and unique. As they grow from carefree adolescents to active, mature women, they face a multitude of physical, emotional and spiritual transitions.
At Mercy Women’s Health Center, we are intimately aware of what women want and need to help them through all life’s stages. Our board certified physicians and expert support staff understand the challenges women face, the roles they juggle and the care they require to support a healthy, balanced life.
By age 60, one in three women will have had a hysterectomy. We recognize that women facing hysterectomy, or other gynecologic surgery, often can’t afford the luxury of a lengthy recovery. Thankfully, a new minimally invasive surgical option—da Vinci® robotic surgery—is now available at Mercy Health System.
Traditional open surgery, with its large incision, has for years been the standard approach to many gynecologic procedures. However, open surgery may cause significant pain, trauma and a long recovery process. For women facing gynecologic surgery, this can understandably cause significant anxiety. It may even make them postpone needed surgery.
Times have changed. Mercy’s da Vinci Si HD dual-console robotic surgery system offers countless benefits to patients:
Requires just a few tiny incisions for minimal scarring
Faster post-surgery recovery (days versus weeks)
Significantly less pain and blood loss
Less risk of infection
Shorter hospital stays
Faster return to normal activities
Overall increased satisfaction
At Mercy, da Vinci is used to perform hysterectomies and to treat ovarian cysts, fibroids and prolapsed organs. In addition to these gynecologic procedures, Mercy’s board certified surgeons use da Vinci for procedures involving the kidneys, bladder, gallbladder, prostate, spleen, adrenal glands, colon, stomach and esophagus.
Our comprehensive services are always sensitive to a woman’s needs, no matter her age. Our OB/GYN physicians often serve as a woman’s primary care physician (PCP) and provide general health checkups, disease screenings, pelvic and breast exams, and immunizations.
Patients of the Mercy Women’s Health Center enjoy access to the full resources of Mercy Health System whenever required. If you need specialized care, we can refer you to physicians or departments who can help. To learn more, talk to your doctor.
